Alan L. Goldin, MD, PhD, associate vice chancellor for faculty affairs, is an expert in the genetics of human central nervous system sodium channels, particularly as a cause of epileptic seizures.

The Office of Academic Affairs provides policy analysis, interpretation and training in academic personnel-related issues within the medical school.

Academic Affairs oversees the processing of all UC Irvine School of Medicine academic personnel actions and is responsible for many personnel related activities.

These activities include academic recruitment, appointment, merit and promotion review, faculty development and mentoring, as well as sabbatical leaves.

Our office also oversees applications for special medical permits, faculty diversity programs, employee and labor relations and volunteer clinical faculty administration.
