Microbiology and Molecular Genetics PhD student Linzi Hosohama was awarded a prestigious 2019 NSF GRFP fellowship. Hosohama is advised by professor Marian Waterman.
Anatomy and Neurobiology PhD student Julian Quintanilla was awarded a prestigious 2019 NSF GRFP fellowship. Quintanilla is advised by professor Gary Lynch.
Maribel Cervantes-Ortega received the UCI SOM Excellence in Research and Health for the Latino Community award. A PhD student in Epidemiology, she is co-advised by professors Dara Sorkin and Karen Edwards.
MSTP student and EHS PhD Candidate Sarah Smith has been elected to the AMA Board of Trustees.
Nicole Stivers, EHS PhD candidate, received an NIH-funded UCI ICTS TL-1 trainee award. Stivers is advised by professor Charles Limoli.

Mens sana in corpore sano! Southern California is experiencing a colorful spring thanks to a decent amount of rain during the past months. If you have not yet ventured out into open space, or even if you have already, come join me this Saturday for a moderate local hike. Get some exercise while exploring nature - rejuvenate your thoughts by spending some time outside.
Join us in fighting cancer with research at our Oncoslayers fundraiser. Succulents, baked goods, coffee, and T-shirts will be sold.

Join us for SOM Grad Day from 2:30-5:30 p.m. in Sprague and Gillespie Hall and in the outdoor courtyard. Events include poster presentations, demonstrations, a raffle, T-shirts, food (Oct 12th) and a faculty vs. students soccer game (Oct 10th).
