UC Irvine receives CME Accreditation

Dec. 8, 2011 — The University of California, Irvine School of Medicine has received Accreditation with Commendation as a provider of Continuing Medical Education (CME) from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), Dean Ralph V. Clayman announced. This accreditation as an exemplary provider of physician education programs is the highest level bestowed by ACCME.

The 2011 accreditation from ACCME spans six years, and is valid through 2017. In 2011, ACCME awarded Accreditation with Commendation to only the top 16 percent of all accredited providers and the top 26 percent of all accredited medical schools.

"The CME office, under the leadership of Ellen Seaback, has truly brought significant distinction to UC Irvine School of Medicine," Clayman said in his announcement statement. "Their commitment to UC Irvine Health's endeavors in education helps us advance medicine much to the benefit of our patients and their communities."
