School of Medicine

The Research Development staff within the UC Irvine School of Medicine's Office of Research design and implement services to help faculty members succeed in obtaining and maintaining extramural funding and — once successful — to share their expertise and help their colleagues do the same.

Services include:

  • Assistance with limited submissions
  • Technical editing of proposals
  • Drafting ancillary proposal documents and letters of support
  • Developing web resources
  • Conducting funding opportunity searches
  • Proposal development and writing workshops

We also manage UC Irvine's National Institutes of Health (NIH) Boot Camp. The bootcamp is a comprehensive, multi-tiered mentored experience in proposal development. Faculty members work in small groups with established researchers to prepare a research grant proposal for submission to the NIH.

School of Medicine faculty and researchers are encouraged to contact Tara Massimino, director of Research Development, for assistance with proposal development activities related to seeking funding and preparing grant applications.
